Students Bear the Brunt of Budget Cuts as Economy Worsens

Abstract:
Just over a month ago, all public agencies, including SC State, lost 3 percent of their budget. The state of South Carolina is experiencing the socio-economic ills of the day including mortgage calamities, escalating unemployment and rising gas prices. At SC State, it is evident that the problems in the economy have trickled down to the students. ThinkPad computers that are loaned to business and honor students each semester are now unavailable....

This article is half baked and it seems as though the reporters are just complaining about luxuries that have been revoked.

The issues addressed in this article aren't even that serious. So what if you ride in a high school bus at least you still getting to the games and back...but they fail to mention the free books and free game gear and free tuition and free housing.

Furthermore only honor students opinions quoted in this article! Even the Pro-Volleyball player is a honor student. Honor students don't exist exclusively from the school they may not have their own laptops this semester but they can use the computer labs like any other student. In case these honor students fail to realise they are part of SCSU and barely give back what they receive. It is true they are " the brightest and the best" so they get to live in Hugine Suites , they represent the school for NAAAHP which means they go on a trip all expenses paid, even if the conditions are 'non luxurious' as they would have liked, but we are yet to see the material benefits of them assisting to improve the campus life for themselves and their peers. I must admit that there a few who actually give of their time every afternoon in Nix Hall to assist students who are struggling academically.

Ok honor students don't have laptops but the school is doing things that will benefit everyone in the school, for example fixing Lowman Hall which is to the FRONT of the campus and is the oldest building and one of the original buildings from when the school was established. Everyone is feeling effects of the budget cut!!!

So in essence please stop whining !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Question- Is Ms. Randle an international student? If she isn't she can get a job off campus... Apple bee's are looking for new employees.
