"The students and their talents is what motivates me, seeing their ideas and what they can do is amazing.”

Professor Joshua Mims is an instructor for the recently formed Communication Majors in the Department of English and Modern Languages, here at South Carolina State University.

He teaches both basic and advanced video production for broadcasting and journalism majors. Though this his second semester teaching at STATE this is his fourth year as a professor.

Hailing from Union, South Carolina, Mims received Bachelor's degrees in communications and theater not far from home at North Greenville University.  He then went on to receive his Master of Fine Arts degree from Regents University.

Before becoming a professor he worked as a film editor, producer, writer, director, and actor with such companies as Coastal Training of Virginia Beach, VA and Action Video of Greenville, SC.

He became a professor because he enjoys his craft and enjoys helping students succeed in broadcasting.

"The students and their talents is what motivates me, seeing their ideas and what they can do is amazing," says Mims.

He hopes to be known as the professor students can talk to and get help from anytime; an open door policy is what he believes in.
